So I'm not sure if there is a scarier team than the Flyers in the NHL right now, either for their own fans or for the opposing team. Tonight, despite the refs deciding that Montreal earned 9 powerplays to the Flyers 3, the Flyers proved that they are still the better team in this series. They should be up 3-0 in the series for the second series in a row, but they will settle for a 2-1 series lead. The Flyers have made each of the last 4 games nail-biting for their own fans but have found ways to win in 3 of them. They have been winning these games in large part to the outstanding play of goaltender Marty Biron. The dude has literally been playing out of his mind, and if he continues this high level of play, I can't see any team beating the Flyers. In the NHL playoffs, teams only go as far as the goaltender will carry them, and Biron has loaded the Flyers up on his back and is outplaying the supposed savior of the Habs, Carey Price. Price has looked shaky at best in three games against the Flyers while Biron has been rock solid in the past two games. He's stopped 66/70 shots for a .942 save percentage. R.J Umberger has proven he's not only a Penguin killer, but he's a Canadien killer as well as he has had three goals this series. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it's hard not to, the Flyers have a great shot at taking this series and advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.

In other news, Habs fans tried to get the upper hand in Philadelphia today by desecrating the Rocky Statue. Really, the Canadien fans have been showing the lack of control they have. So far these playoffs they've: rioted in the streets and torched a couple of cop cars after winning a FIRST ROUND SERIES against Boston, they doused Flyers forward Mike Richards with beer in game one after he took a penalty, they booed the U.S. National Anthem before game 2 and now they have gone and messed with an icon of Philadelphia (admittedly, I have no problem with this harmless prank). Not much has been made of these incidents, most have just written it off as fans being passionate about their team, but if it was Philadelphia fans doing any of these acts, they would have been crucified for them. I just wanted to point that little fact out: Flyers fans have been rather subdued, yet we will always get the bad rap. Does that seem right to you?

Edit: So ok, Philly fans booed O Canada today, but to be fair, we wouldn't have done that if we hadn't been provoked. I have been to several games when we've played Canadian teams and we don't usually boo the Anthem. that being said, they still shouldn't have done it.

I think you make a good point when you say that if Philly fans had done any of the above listed things, we would have been crucified. So true.

At the game tonight, there was a video message from Briere asking fans to be respectful during his national anthem. I thought for sure the fans would listen to Danny. I was wrong...they booed anyhow!

yea, that's really sad, i wish people would realize that that is beyond the realm of acceptable fan behavior

booing the Anthem is moronic and small of people, they should get their ticket revoked and be sent home for it. It's not our coountry but show some respect.
