Top Teams Stunned At Home

Gardner-Webb 84 #22 Kentucky 68

No, that's not a misprint.

Kentucky, a top 25 school, lost to the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at home by 16. The Wildcats never led at any point during the game with the Bulldogs jumping out to a 14-0 run to start the game.

Kentucky shot an abysmal 22-62 (.355) from the floor and new head coach Billy Gillespie left the floor of Rupp Arena to a chorus of boos.

First it was a crazy college football season that stole headlines for all of the upsets, headlined by Div. II Appalachian State beating Michigan in the Big House. Now it seems that basketball is here to steal the show.

It started with #8 Michigan State losing an exhibition game to Div. II Grand Valley State in double overtime, then Ohio State was the next to fall to a Division II school in Findlay four days later. UConn and Memphis also struggled against lesser opponents in early season matchups.

If the first two weeks of the season are any indication, we're in for another wild ride in the world of college sports.
