Schilling, Red Sox, Come To Terms

The Red Sox and Curt Schilling have agreed to a one year deal worth $8 million with $3 million in innings pitched incentives, $1 million if he receives a Cy Young vote, and $2 million in weight clauses, $333,333 for each time he passes one of six random monthly weigh-ins.

"The responsibility falls on me," Schilling said. "There are 2 million reasons for me to reach the weight goal."

The Boston Herald reported that the Astros, Diamondbacks and Phillies all contacted Schilling but he "made it clear to all three teams that my intent was to do whatever I could to resolve this and remain in Boston for the final year of my career. "

It's good to hear that they are giving Schilling motivation to drop weight. I'm hoping that by the time pitchers and catchers report in the Spring that I won't have to call Curt "38 Pizzas" anymore.
