Shula Suggests Asterisk If Patriots Go Undefeated

"The Spygate thing has diminished what they've accomplished," Shula said in an interview with the New York Daily News. "You would hate to have that attached to your accomplishments. They've got it."

That tells you the seriousness or significance of what they found," Shula said, according to the Daily News. "I guess you got the same thing as putting an asterisk by Barry Bonds' home run record.

"I guess it will be noted that the Patriots were fined and a No. 1 draft choice was taken away during that year of accomplishment. The sad thing is Tom Brady looks so good, it doesn't look like he needs any help."

What a bitter old man. Seriously, get over yourself. The Pats are 9-0 and he' s already scrambling to save his legacy. Does he honestly think that his team's greatness will diminish if the Patriots run the table? There was always a group of Belichick and Patriot haters out there but with "Spygate" (oh how I hate that term), people across the country hate this team. Not for Brady, not for Moss, but for Belichick, their hooded sweatshirt wearing emperor, who just rubs people the wrong way with the way he treated Eric Mangini after he left and his affair with a married woman, throw in a cheating scandal and you have the perfect storm to rally against Belichick and his team.

If New England would run the table to a championship, there would of course be comparisions between the two teams and I'm sure more than one person would take Shula's Dolphins over Belichick's Patriots for the exact reason Shula stated, but there was no reason to come out and say this. He just came off as a bitter man grasping at a legacy.
