Sidney Crosby is NOT the Second Coming of Christ

Three years ago the NHL was blessed to have two extraordinarily skilled players enter the NHL. However, the way the NHL promotes its players, you would only think that one of those players had any skill. Yes, I am talking about Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. If you see any NHL ad these days, they are all slight variations of the same commercial. Each commercial features Sidney Crosby dancing around defenders and scoring some stylized goal. It's always Sidney Crosby, you never see any of his teammates with him, and you never see any player from any other team scoring a goal. It's like the NHL wants you to believe that without Crosby, and a plethora of crappy goalies for him to score on, the league is nothing. As a hockey fan, this pisses me off. There are so many good young players in the league today that the NHL could and should be more diverse in who they promote. Yes Crosby has great skill, and deserves recognition for his skill, but with players like Ilya Kovalchuck, Alexander Ovechkin, Erik Staal, Mike Richards, Roberto Luongo, the Sedin twins, Joe Thornton... I could go on and on, but my point is, the NHL has a ton of exciting talent, yet they don't make an effort to promote the league through them. It's a stupid marketing move because not only are they not promoting the best player in the league (Ovechkin plays a much more complete game than Crosby) but if Crosby suffers a career ending injury, then the league has nothing to go on anymore.
